He is tired, weary from what he has seen throughout his long years. It is not a tiredness borne of age; so deft and complete is his control of the Force, he feels no stress or illness that others with a life as lengthy as his are prone to suffering. It is simply a result of spending many years pleading to and entreating those who would not listen. For decades it had been so, during his time with the Jedi and the Senate, until it had come to a point where he realised that if he wanted things to change, he would have to take matters into his own hands. And so he has, having lost all hope for those he now considers his enemies.

But this one, he knows, is different. At times, infuriatingly so - many plans other than Gunray’s have suffered the interference of Padmé Amidala. One who many call the strongest voice of the Republic next to the Chancellor himself. And one who, should he convince her to turn away from the lies she unwittingly supported, will bring them greatness.

“You live with the answers to that question every day, Senator. In my experience, the Republic has never listened to reason. And so force has become my only alternative.”

NO POLITICAL MATTER is settled quickly in the republic. it is perhaps one of the most frequently voiced complaints of democracy. all decisions must be brought forth before the senate, discussed, voted upon, possibly repealed— and the ordeal begins anew. she knows this firsthand, has experienced it as both senator and queen, has felt her own frustration at the looped, cumbersome affair. as a queen with a blockade upon her planet, her people put into concentration camps, the senate’s leisurely pace of coming to a conclusion had infuriated her younger self.

but she has learned so much since then, and has borne witness to TERRIBLE LOSES. she still hopes for and demands action, but has now learned the process of pushing such decisions through to conclusion. despite her misgivings, perhaps even because of them, the faith of her heart is tied steadily to the republic— to freedom it provides to beings across the galaxy. and she holds no fear in fighting and raging to protect the safety the republic grants those people. at her sides, her hands are defiant fists, closed upon her emotions to best maintain the steady, logical tone of her words.

“   i have no answers.     i live every day of my life demanding,   pleading for them,   from people like you, dooku. the republic answers to reason benefiting the safety of her people.   what have you offered in the name of their protection?       all i have seen from you is death,      and fear.   “

IT IS A TOKEN OF PRIDE,    that she able to find the best in people, and in situations—    to find   HOPE in the blackest of nights.   but she struggles to maintain such tedious innocence in the face of a perpetrator who seeks to destroy the freedom of democracy. not only is such her life’s work, its so much larger than her, than one small senator.  its working class civilians.  its orphaned children on remote planets, relying upon the republic to shelter them.   to offer HOME.

                                “   why?   “
her tone is only slightly above a raged whisper, but rings sharp as a cry, dark gaze unwavering.

“My lady, I truly do admire your efforts to fix the Republic. You and the few senators of similar ilk have my utmost respect. Yet I urge you to look at the situation realistically. For as long as this corruption has plagued the government, there have always been those who seek to end it as you do. And still the corruption remains. A difference can no longer be made from within. As for peaceful solutions, have I not already attempted to find one? Before this war began I tried to contact the Chancellor’s office and discuss the matter with him, but I was refused. I had hoped to avoid war, but that did not mean I was not prepared for it. And so that is what it came to. I fail to see what more you can hope to do, unless you decide to join our alliance. With your resolve, the war would come to a swifter end, and we could at last establish the government we both dream of.”

image

“ i will never join you. just as i will never lose my hope to continuously help
the republic to improve its standing. it may never reach absolute prosperity—-
but what government will? your words may draw other delegates, as well as
         other systems, to your side,
but i will not be so easily swayed.   you
speak of seeking peace but i am not capable of believing that the chancellor
would turn down a strictly diplomatic meeting. he wants the strife to end as
much as i.       and while you may commend me for it,   my resolve is already
dedicated to ending this war as swiftly as possible—- just not for the outcome
you desire. it is rooted in the republic, in the FREEDOM for the people to be
able to choose their own paths.
in democracy.  as such, i decline any offer
given to turn my back on my beliefs. we may dream of a different government,
dooku, but our visions differ as well. “

“You see only the crimes I have committed against your people, senator, and the people who continue to support a corrupt Republic. I represent the people who wish to see an end to corruption. To start a new government and establish a shining new era. If a ‘crusade’ is the course that must be taken, so be it. You cannot expect both sides not to suffer losses. Those who lose their lives for the Separatists do so gladly. How are those faithful to the Republic any different?”

image

“ I CAN EXPECT BOTH SIDES NOT TO SUFFER LOSES !!
because there are peaceful solutions outside the path of violence. do you
         think i am
BLIND to the faults of the republic after the TRIALS i endured
during my role as naboo’s queen? i am well aware of the
CORRUPTION
that has infiltrated the system,  but i am working to make a difference from
WITHIN, those faithful to ANY cause would not be so different.  but no one
should have to be glad to die.”

“ do you think yourself ABOVE THE LAW, count? you won’t get away
          with the crimes you’ve committed
AGAINST THE PEOPLE. has such
a crusade truly been worth the scale of the casualties—- on both sides? “

Once the communication link had been successfully established, the Count of Serenno drew himself up fully in his chair. Despite having left the Republic, it would not do to lessen his standard of appearance. “Good day, Queen Amidala,” he greeted the translucent blue form of the woman before him. “Or rather, Senator Amidala, now. I must congratulate you on your new position. Tell me, is Coruscant as charming as the last time you visited?”

image

“ count dooku— you look well. i trust serenno is yet to your liking? ”

she had agreed    to the transmission   for the sake of
reparations, in the hope of lessening      some strife in
the galaxy.       they might hold differing ideals but that
does not mean that they cannot coexist PEACEFULLY.

“ i thank you, count. i’m happy to be back in a position where i might
help the beings of the republic. coruscant is as awe-inspiring as ever.
it will take some getting used to, spending a majority of my time here
       rather than on naboo. ”
